REAS 2009

SCIENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY
9.-10. OCTOBER 2009
ZVONIMIROVA 8 - ZAGREB (HR)

under the auspices of the University of Zagreb

AIMS & SCOPE

Important advances in interdisciplinary approaches and complexity theories provide rising potentials for the development of academic and scientific practice. REAS attempts to enhance the presently insufficient utilisation of that potential in sciences, social sciences, humanities and other disciplines, and to strengthen the impact of innovative approaches and research on dealing with societal needs and problems.

REAS promotes issues of direct social relevance that are already the subject of various disciplines. While remaining entirely open to research done in disciplinary frameworks, REAS tries to create a setting for interdisciplinary discussion and exchange, and to connect scientific advancements with the issue of sustainability.

Envisioned as a biannual conference, REAS is aimed primarily at younger people of interest: doctoral students, post-docs, young professionals, activists, etc.

REAS 2009

The basic aim of REAS 2009 is to provide a broad forum for both disciplinary and interdisciplinary exchange between young scientists, and to relate their work to the issue of sustainability. As such, it is open to all subjects, fields and disciplines, and is not limited to work with explicit relation to sustainability. It will consist of both the usual topical sessions, to enable exchange with people working in the same or similar field, and special discussion sessions, to enhance interdisciplinary communication and to examine the relation of science and sustainability.

Conference will take place in Zvonimirova 8 in Zagreb, in the building of the University of Zagreb.
